I've got a large monitor, but your program uses only a small portion of it. This makes having multiple panes not as useful as I had hoped. Any chance of better using a large monitor?
As a first goal, Stories & Sources was designed to fit a 15-inch laptop screen, given their ubiquity. Initial tests showed that the ability to zoom any window to a full 11 inches wide satisfied most early testers, especially when your story can be restored with a keystroke [Cmd or Ctl + 1]. You can also step backward to the previous view with Cmd or Ctl +2.
The second time I launched the program I got a trial has expired message. I thought the trial period was 30 days?
Boy, is my face red! A version was posted with an error in the trial dating routine. This has been fixed not before a couple of hundred people downloaded it, but it has been fixed. Please download it again.
When I export text or story to email, I get extra returns between paragraphs. Is this normal?
Yes. This was done for readability. The program looks at the source field to see if there are already double carriage returns. If there are four or more, it's exported untouched; otherwise an extra return is inserted after each paragraph. This is great for reading and easily removed with a find/change.
Is it safe to use this program for secure transactions banking and the like?
Yes, because it uses the resources of your existing secure browser. You won't see the browser window's padlock, which ensures that the transaction is encrypted. Consider, your bank wouldn't let you connect with an insecure browser. Stories & Sources also uses your existing browser's cookies for account log-ins, settings, etc.
When I launch the program, my IP sentry detects Web requests to storiesandsources.com. What's going on?
On first launch, the opening screen of information is fed from our Web server. As well, some Help information is Web-fed. The information flow is one-way. No information is passed from your computer to us other than the page request, of course. Softpedia has checked the program and passed it as 100-per-cent clean of adware and spyware. The use of Web requests lets us effortlessly and transparently improve help information. We see nothing but IP addresses with nothing to connect them to users or purchasers.
